"Is it possible for people to be low in L-Methyl Folate [5-MTHF] even if they do NOT have single nucleotide polymorphisms affecting the MTHFR enzyme?"

The answer is... YES.

DIET
A person can have terrible nutrition. Someone who doesn't eat anything green. Someone who never eats beans. A poor diet low in DiHydroFolate [DHF] can cause there to be insufficient L-Methyl Folate.

MEDICATIONS
This includes thousands of people on coumadin [warfarin] who avoid eating greens and people with Rheumatoid Arthritis [RA] who have been given Methotrexate. Methotrexate blocks the enzyme that converts DHF into TetraHydroFoalte [THF ... ..more

Genome wide association studies as a methodology for studying complex genetic traits in humans - successes and limitations
Genome Wide Association Studies were first proposed in the mid-1990s as a way to study association between human genetic polymorphisms and complex, multigenic traits. Rather than measure all genetic variation present in each individual, approximately one million Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) are assayed as genetic landmarks, and scored for association with the trait of interest. Based on linkage disequilibrium, genes in close proximity to associated SNP landmarks are potential candidates for further investigation.

This technique is well-suited to identify susceptibility genes that are ... ..more

8 Factors that Affect Your Methylation Process

--Genetics – Like an estimated 20 percent of us, you could be genetically predisposed to high homocysteine

--Poor diet – The word “folate” comes from “foliage.” You need to eat plenty of leafy greens, beans, fruit, and whole grains to get adequate levels of vitamins B6 and B12, betaine, and folate. Egg yolks, meat, liver, and oily fish are the main dietary sources of vitamin B12 — so long-term vegan diets can be a problem. Plus, certain compounds can raise levels of homocysteine and deplete the B vitamins. These include excess animal protein, sugar, saturated fat ... ..more

Adverse reactions to fluoroquinolone #antibiotics ( #Cipro #Ciprofloxacin #Levaquin #Levofloxacin #Avelox #Moxifloxacin and #Floxin #Ofloxacin ) can manifest in patients as a multi-symptom chronic illness that most resembles #fibromyalgia #chronic fatigue syndrome #CFS / #myalgic encephalopathy (ME) and/or an #autoimmune diseases. As is the case with those chronic multi-symptom illnesses, the symptoms of fluoroquinolone toxicity vary greatly from one individual to another. Though almost everyone who suffers from fluoroquinolone toxicity has some sort of musculoskeletal issues (fluoroquinolones have a black box warning about the risk of tendon rupture), #neuropathy and autonomic nervous system dysfunction, those broad categories of symptoms are where the ... ..more

What is an Excitotoxin ?

  3 years, 9 months ago

#Excitotoxins excite the nerve or brain cell to death.

MSG/Glutamates Please do not attempt to eliminate every last version of #MSG from your diet or you’ll be absolutely insane by the end of the month, it is much too difficult. Just be mindful that there are a lot of hidden ingredients everywhere If a restaurant says they have no MSG in their food, they are almost always referring to the fact that they don’t add MSG to their food but it comes in vats that way already. Also, there are loopholes so that food manufacturers may label ... ..more

Can you tell me about coffee enemas ?

  3 years, 9 months ago

Coffee enemas help eliminate pollutants and stimulate 500-700 times the amount of glutathione normally made by the #liver . #Glutathione is your body’s major #antioxidant and #immune booster and it is critical in #cancer therapy and prevention as well as CFS/MCS recovery. It also removes sulfide producing toxins and #ammonia from the #gut . Nevertheless, it is only mandated for cancer treatment. #Detox

The following are some helpful tips:
• For those with #arthritis or mobility issues, using camping or an army cot is essential for quick enema release (without messy accidents)

• Chamomile tea is beneficial for reducing #bowel spasms and ... ..more
