Vitamin B12 is one of the most frequently prescribed treatments in chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) yet it is not uncommon
for it to perform poorly or even to have negative effectsthus. Here Fred provides some of the reasons he believes B12 does not sometimes work in ME/CFS
Taking It in Tablet Form- Active b12 is taken as an oral tablet reducing its absorbtion to below 1%. A 1000mcg active b12 oral tablet might bind as much as 10mcg of b12. Again the b12 has to be squeezed through a keyhole that limits the amount and is subject to ... ..more
No; only a small percentage of mutations cause genetic disorders—most have no impact on health or development. For example, some mutations alter a gene’s DNA sequence but do not change the function of the protein made by the gene.
Often, gene mutations that could cause a genetic disorder are repaired by certain enzymes before the gene is expressed and an altered protein is produced. Each cell has a number of pathways through which enzymes recognize and repair mistakes in DNA. Because DNA can be damaged or mutated in many ways, DNA repair is an important process by which ... ..more
COMT, GAD, MAOA/B and addressing methylation too soon can definitely cause neuro-psych issues, but it all comes back to methyl pooling. SNPs in these genes can also contribute: ACE, DAO, MTHFR (e.g., A1298C). Homozygous or 'AA' results for COMT V158M is particularly associated with anxiety & startle response. Quite a few SNPs & quite a few medical conditions can contribute to anxiety, of course (e.g., gut health & bacteria resulting in toxin exposure).
For brain fog / concentration issues, follow up on SNPs affecting ammonia (such as NOS gene, etc.) & BH4 levels (DHPR gene, etc.), also.
With anxiety as a chief ... ..more
#Spirulina provides the raw materials [amino acids] for #DNA and #RNA repair. Spirulina is a rich source of B6 and Folate [B9]. Spirulina also contains #antioxidant phytonutrients called anthocyanins. #Anthocyanins are powerful #anticarcinogenics .
Spirulina has strong anti-microbial effects that help create a proper balance among the #gut flora. Spirulina is helpful in the gut because it helps to controlling the growth of pathogenic [Bad] #bacteria and #yeasts in the digestive system. A proper healthy balance of gut flora is critical for optimal digestion and nutritional absorption. Keeping the gut flora healthy and properly balanced is an important part of #detoxification ... ..more
The conventional cleaning industry has so many dirty little secrets. Here are a few of the big ones that you need to know before you use these products in your home.
1. Ingredients are privileged information.
About 70% of adults believe that companies are required to disclose all of the chemical ingredients contained in their products, which isn’t true. Manufacturers are only required to list the ingredients that are active disinfectants (because these are technically pesticides) or known to be acutely hazardous (which to them includes ingredients that cause fires or explosions, but not those that cause cancer or ... ..more

STEP ONE: Layering in The Foundation
Knowing your Nervous system #dominance is an integral part in establishing the treatment process.
A). Remove or limit triggers:
Processed foods contain excitotoxins, dyes, and #toxic preservatives. It is also crucial to remove obvious food #allergies . Please see Resqua pages on #excitotoxins for more information. This is simply defined and discussed in detail.
B). Begin general support:
Provide a good foundation for your nervous system type and begin nutritional support. Though life threatening reactions would be extremely rare (and to my knowledge, unheard of), moving too quickly can result in more intense symptoms of ... ..more

Although every living being requires oxygen for survival, oxygen is actually highly reactive and can damage living organisms by producing reactive oxygen species. In people, these unstable oxygen molecules occur with everyday living, during the normal breakdown of food or even as the #immune system is activated to fight off #bacteria & #virus. Other exposures include: smoking, using drugs or drinking too much alcohol, eating fried foods and refined sugars, air & water pollution, consuming #excitotoxins (MSG), dyes, toxic preservatives, and pesticides, as well as countless other contaminants that lead to widespread free radical damage, particularly once the body’s natural #antioxidants ... ..more
Leaky Gut Syndrome affects millions of people worldwide. While some people show antibodies in their blood indicating an immune system response to the presence of various foods, others merely show signs and symptoms of sensitivity and intolerance. Both of these conditions, and many more, are indicators of leaky gut syndrome.
WHAT IS LEAKY GUT?
Leaky gut syndrome is an un-fancy name given to increased or excessive intestinal permeability. Essentially, the walls of our digestive tracts are compromised - more porous than is healthy and normal, and as a result, particles of food, toxins, bacteria and viruses all “leak” into the bloodstream ... ..more
MTHFR C677T Mutation: Basic Protocol by Dr Lynch on February 24, 2012 in C677T MTHFR Mutations
Have one or two copies of the MTHFR C677T mutation? Don’t know what to do?
After working with 100′s of individuals with this defect, I’ve developed a protocol which may help a significant number of people.
I want to make it absolutely clear that while the MTHFR C677T mutation may be common across a number of individuals, the outcome of supplementing with various nutrients can vary tremendously due to other genetic defects, dietary and lifestyle choices and environmental exposures.

CBS (cystathionine beta synthase) catalyzes the first step of the transsulfuration pathway, from homocysteine to cystathionine. Dr. Yasko considers addressing CBS mutations as first priority aside from addressing the gut.
This enzyme converts homocysteine to cystathionine. In a separate reaction, cystathionine is then converted to cysteine which in turn goes to taurine or glutathione among other things.
CBS defects are actually upregulations. This means the enzyme works too fast. Therefore, it is common to see low levels of cystathionine and homocysteine since there is a rapid conversion to taurine. This leads to high levels of taurine and ammonia.
The upregulation ... ..more
The Energy or Citric Acid Cycle:
The Krebs cycle, also called the citric acid cycle or the “Energy Cycle,” is a series of chemical reactions that convert food (sugar, protein, and fat) into energy (ATP). It is referred to as a cycle since it should always end where it began. This process occurs through three main stages within each cell:
1). Glycolysis, otherwise known as the breakdown of sugar, yields 2 molecules of ATP, 2 molecules of NADH, and two forms of pyruvate (6 forms of currency in all). This is actually a step that takes place before the energy ... ..more
Evaluating the nervous system’s style or “dominance” is a key factor in the initial process i.e dopamine or seratonin dominance. This will allow for a more targeted regimen, based on your individual needs. This is why consulting with your Doctor is pivotal.
1. Slowly adding basic supplements & support: general minerals, vitamin B’s & B-12, digestive enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, etc.
2. Gut Health is critical. Since most chronically ill adults & children have at least 1-2 (if not 3-4!) enzyme defects that affect the gut and digestion, the gut is always a factor. Gut bugs tend to ... ..more

There are around 100,000 synthetic chemicals available on the market today, in everything from shampoo to cleaning products, toys to baby bottles, furniture, carpet and even clothes.
But did you know that most of them have not been tested for human and environmental toxicity? Of those that have been, they contain many known and suspected carcinogens, allergens and endocrine disrupters—even in products you put on your skin.
In fact, one in three personal care products contains ingredients identified as possible human carcinogens, approximately one in five contains ingredients commonly contaminated with known carcinogens, and almost one in two ... ..more
