This is an acetylation pathway that helps remove specific toxins from the body (i.e. mold, yeast, fungus, etc). This pathway is driven by vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), so therefore this is often started at the beginning of the protocol, as it will help this pathway as well as adrenal function.
